West Michigan Mustang Club Board Meeting 8.14.2017 Aberdeen Reformed Church
The meeting was called to order by President, Chris Stawasz at 7:02 pm.
Present were Gene Gibson, Phil Gibson, Carol and Neil Keegstra, Joe DiLorenzo, Lori Stolte, Vicki and Ron Wilton, Cindy and Dave Dunn, Ginny and Gary Marble, Gail and Scott Broekema, Molly and Kevin Guzniczak, Cindy and Rick Bishop, Chris Stawasz and Lynn Trestrail.
The meeting was called to order by President, Chris Stawasz at 7:02 pm.
Chris extended a West Michigan Mustang Club Warm Welcome to new/ old members, Kevin and Molly Guzniczak.
*Secretary report: Corrections: The pre-metro cruise event at Pal’s Diner is on Friday August 25 (not August 24 as mentioned in the minutes.) There will be activities on Aug 26 also. There will be a Beatles Tribute Band as well as a Cruisin’ type band. There were minor typo corrections.
During this part of the meeting it was mentioned not to forget the Metro Cruise on 8.26.17. Borgman is hosting the Club from 10 am to 4 pm. Lunch will be provided with members holding a ticket from Borgman. Catering will be by Adeline Leigh. Many cars begin to show up earlier than 10 am. Official time is 10-4. Borgman has remodeled and parking will be along the 28th street frontage of the dealership.
A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes as corrected.
*Treasury Report: A detailed Treasury report was distributed by the Treasurer. It was noted that the rental costs for our events at Remembrance Church have been paid through March 2018.
$700 was given to Gale Halderman for the costs of the food and to donate. Additional donations to other charities will be determined at a later meeting date. We discussed Aberdeen Church where our monthly meetings are held at no charge, Frontline Church, the location of the Show, Bethesda Farms, The Barn for Equine Learning and Vicki’s Pet Connection. Again, our Club is a self-proclaimed non-profit and are classed as a 501C7.
The Club does need to purchase tables. The wooden tables are so heavy and many of the volunteers are old enough that moving the heavy tables is hurting people. We will look for the light weight but sturdy tables. The 8-foot length fits into the trailer. We need 10 tables. Chris, Gary, and Carol all talked about looking for tables.
Steve also needs to find more equipment for the sound system. He was previously asked to find a small sound system for the inside of the church for the raffle and needs a CD player. He has been asked to get the prices and purchase that equipment.
The church reported that they sold 300 hot dogs. This gives us an idea on the amount of food eaten on a very rainy, lower attended day.
*Clothing: Joe reported that the shirt for Gale Halderman was ordered and presented to him. The shirt for the handicapped young man was ordered and Chris will deliver to him. An order was made to resupply our stock of shirts that were sold during the show. Since the show more orders have been placed and fulfilled. A brief discussion took place about ordering a different style/color before the show next year.
*Membership: Sue was absent from the meeting but it was reported that our club membership is now up to 240 members. That is higher than we have been for a while. Scott will take some membership forms and the stand to Barber Ford on 8-17-17.
*Activities: Dave and Heidi were not present but Barber Ford is on 8-17-17 (as previously mentioned).
August 19 is the Woodward cruise and August 20 is Mustang Memories.
August 22 is “Mustang Night.” The Club will donate a trophy to Cheers for Mustang night.
The Metro Cruise warm up is Friday 8-25-17 will be at Pal’s Diner on 28th street SE. Ron and Vicki will reserve some spots for WMMC members. Pal’s will have music Friday and Saturday night and the first 100 cars registering on Friday will get a meal coupon for the outside grill.
We are again invited to Borgman Ford for the Metro Cruise on 8-26-17. Food is available to WMMC members. Be sure to get your meal ticket.
The Blue Oval Blast is 8-27-17 in Grand Ledge. It is a very nice show.
8-30-17 is the Rose Garden car show. It is part of the Sunset Manor organization.
9-2-17 is the Belding Car Show.
Please check the calendar on the website for more events.
Chris asked that we keep all the members with health issues in our thoughts and prayers.
*MCA : Tom and Julie Miller were not present but Lori presented a report for them.
It was a wonderful weekend in Dawsonville, GA. Still the home of Awesome Bill from Dawsonville. WMMC had three members who made the trip.
Dick & Sue Engel, Jeff and Lori Stolte and Tom and Julie Miller all won gold awards. Tom and Julie also received their red grill medallion for earning 20 points in shows.
The last MCA show for the year will be August 25-27 in Kansas City, Overland Park Kansas. 3 cars will be going and there is a limit of 488 cars. www.mustangclubofgreaterkc.com
Labor Day weekend 2018 is the MCA show in New Hampshire.
*Old Business: the price for sending postcards was again discussed. We may consider sending them 3 times a year. A mockup will be made to see if this is something the Club wants to do. It will cost nearly $200 per month.
*New Business: The date of the next WMMC car show June 9, 2018. It will again be at Frontline Church. The Church would like to have a carnival and will use the back part of the parking lot for that. Chris feels that if the parking spaces are tightened up by using the noodle for measurement, rather than each spot having 1 ½ spots we will have plenty of room for our show. The church said they would like to still do hot dogs but ok’d having food trucks at the show.
Due to the printing costs, we plan to print 500 color flyers and 500 black and white flyers.
We will discuss the cost of the port a johns to see if the Church wants to contribute funds for that expense.
We hope to get the Standard Operating Procedure Manual complete and after reviewing all the documents sent out, consolidate as many documents as we can. Printing and postage are one of our biggest expenses.
We will again invite Bethesda Farms to do coffee and morning donuts for the show.
Phil Gibson requests that members send in pictures of their cars so that they can be added to the website.
The meeting was adjourned at 840 pm. The next meeting is Sept 11 at 700 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Trestrail
