2018 WMMC CAR SHOW WRAP UP
Tom and Kevin both thought we had a good show and thanked all volunteers who were present.
-Kevin thought we need to have better communication between the volunteers and coordinators. It was suggested that next year we have a cell phone list so we can call or text when we have a question or problem.
-There were some difficulties with those who helped parking. Some parking volunteers wanted to come in and clean their cars prior to helping. That left us short handed for the tasks at hand. Volunteers would have enough time to clean their cars prior to voting. It was suggested that there be a floater who could be available to answer questions or help where needed
-It was discussed how we need to remind volunteers who sign up early. Should there be a pre-show volunteer meeting?
-Vote Counting went well. A few cars were put in the wrong class but it could have been from one of the folks who filled out their own dash cards or anyone doing dash cards.
-Registration got backed up when the cars entering got backed up. There were some complaints. It was suggested that we have a host/hostess or two at the door to guide people to complete their registration form or to the pre-registered line. We could use sticky numbers to label the cards or just number a few ahead. We have to be sure that the numbers don’t get mixed up. Allowing car show attendees to complete their own card leads to issues. It was also suggested that the wording on the show flyer match the info on the dash card. It will help registration speed along.
-The Raffle was very successful. Last year the raffle generated $750 in proceeds. This year the Raffle made $1150. The 50/50 raffle made $198 this year compared to 2018 ($250).
-Sponsors provided $1380.
-Next year we will really encourage show attendees to pre-reg. Maybe the flyer can say something about avoiding long lines at Registration Desk.
-It was suggested that next year the Young Enthusiast dash cards be a different color. A different color will be easier for voters to distinguish.
-There were some rewards left. Kevin said he would get them to the winners. (The flyer said that you must be present to win or have someone pick up your award.) It was suggested that the 4th and 5th place winners be included on the list in case someone is not present.
-One of our food trucks was unable to make the show due to a breakdown in Kalamazoo the previous day. It was discussed to have a number of food trucks. Lynn volunteered to check out Food Truck Fridays to see what’s available.
-Members at the meeting thought the Ford Truck was too far away from the crowd.
-The Mustang Trailer has to go where Ford directs it. The driver needs to be made aware of our show as soon as we know so he can work with Ford to schedule the truck to the west of us so he can either go to that show first and come back to our show or vice versa.
-The Show Field layout will be evaluated before next year.
-We only had a few vendors this year. We will try to have more vendors at the next show.
-Kevin felt the show shirt guy was difficult to deal with. He wanted a deposit on the shirts so he could order shirts to make them for the show. It sounds like this dealer is cash poor. He didn’t answer the phone nor return messages. He didn’t want to make changes. Scott stated that Gary will NOT be handling the show shirts next year.
2020 Tapper Ford Show is June 6, 2020
Kevin will try to reserve June 13, 2020 for our show. He will contact Frontline.
Some discussion took place about having a Pony Corral for For Sale cars next year.
***There will be NO July WMMC meeting this year.*** The next meeting is August 12, 2019.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Trestrail (filling in for Kevin as secretary.)
