WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB BOARD MEETING MINUTES 3.9.15
The meeting was called to order by President Rick Bishop at 657 pm.
Present were: Rick Bishop, Rick May, Ron Wilton, Carol Keegstra, Bill Binning, Chris Stawacz, Steve Morgan, Scott Broekema, Gene Gibson, Dave and Heidi Mull, Tom and Julie Miller, Dave and Cindy Dunn, Lori Stolte, Phil Gibson, Cindy Kline, Joe Kozuh, Dan Veronie, Andy DeVrou, Gary Marble, Jim and Lynn Trestrail.
Secretary Report: The minutes of the February meeting were read. A few typographical error corrections were made.
-Lori Stolte’s phone number to call for show volunteers is: 517 930 0561. A few folks have come forward to volunteer for the show. Lori will also obtain water for the volunteers.
-The date of the summer picnic at Cisler’s is August 2 at 1100 am.
Treasurer Report: The report was distributed by Ron and was reviewed by all present. We have enough in the treasury to purchase the sound system equipment we need for the shows. Incoming dues are helping our balance.
Membership Report: Of 256 members, 52 have not paid. 11 members state they will renew in June. We have gotten 5 new members.
MCA Affiliation: Cindy Kline brought an even to the President Rick Bishop about an MCA event in Auburn, IN. Rick will review it and pass information along to the members.
Old Business: The Chili Cook off was good and well attended. There were about 100 people present. Lots of good chili, salads, desserts and drinks were enjoyed by everyone. The presentation by John Clor, from Public Relations at Ford Performance was very enjoyable and informative. He would like to return to a club event again. Of note: if someone left their crock pot after the chili fest please contact someone on the Board. The pot is in a safe place and not abandoned at the church.
Activities: All activities that take place at Remembrance Church must start at 600 pm. The person who opens the church for us cannot be available prior to that. We could possibly get in to setup at 500 pm but no earlier. Thanks so all those who set up and took down the night of the Chili Cook Off. Many hands make light work and since so many members have some physical limitations right now, all hands are needed every time. Thank you.
-Bill Binning is setting up a ‘Garage Hop’ for 4.25.15. It would begin at 900 at the Gilmore Museum and proceed to one of their garages where the Berrien County Vo Tech School students work on cars. We could view their project cars.
-After that we could go to another barn where the owner has a Shelby but also “lots and lots of telephone stuff” as he worked for AT&T.
-There was talk of going to the Slot Car Races but parking is on the street only and there are some concerns about that.
-A stop for lunch at Angelos could be included.
-After that a stop at the barn in South Haven
-Rounding out the day with ice cream at Shermans.
Redekers would like to have another picnic but no date has bene set.
Housemans would like to host another cook out/ campfire but many members think Sept/ Oct would be a good time for that.
Color Tour – Sept 25-27 to Port Huron. There are about 7 rooms left. Contact Dave and Heidi Mull for details.
Clothing – Dave and Cindy Dunn reported that they are ordering “worker” shirts for the show. They will also re-order regular club shirts. As always, if folks are interested in specialized items, please contact the Dunns.
Sound System – Our WMMC sound man, Steve Morgan, has reported that he ordered, purchased and received the sound system components that we need to cover the whole show with sound. He circulated a paper that detailed all he has purchased. He still needs to get an adjustable folding table and a rubber mat for the table. He is also looking for a CD player with a USB Port. Gary Marble stated he had a CD player with that option and he is willing to donate to the club for use. Gary will talk to Steve about the player. We do need a volunteer to run the 2nd sound system on the north side of the parking lot.
Chris Stawacz – noted that he might be able to get Giuliana Zuccato to come to a club event and give a talk. This will be considered for Taco Night in the fall. He was one of the artists/clay modelers for the original Mustang. He is, however, 80 years old so we will have to see.
Rick Bishop and one of the Betten boys will be talking to Meijer about using part of their lot for the day of the show. We will also be ordering the cakes from Meijer.
Gene Gibson – reviewed the needed awards and dash plaques for the show and he will place the order.
Scott Broekema – reports that Vendor donations are still arriving. Rick added that Eagle 1 had sent cases of donations and some of them got frozen so Eagle is taking care of that and sending replacements.
-anyone who can make donations for raffle prizes and door prizes would be appreciated.
Mustang Trailer – is coming to our show. It is an 80 foot trailer and is the merchandise trailer. Rick will talk to the dealership to find the ideal parking place for the trailer for accessibility and to draw attention to the show.
Tom Antor – reports the Freedom Cruise is having a concert at the Delta Plex on Wednesday, the cruise to Sparta will be on Thursday.
WMMC – will set up for our show on Friday, our show will be Saturday and then after the show we will cruise to the Veteran’s Facility to show the cars to our Vets. On Sunday we plan another cruise to the Veteran’s Facility for a Blessing of the Cars.
Madison Rising – is the band who will have a patriotic themed concert during the Freedom Cruise.
Gus Katsoris – was in the Greek Military and made a donation to the Club to go to the Veterans.
Show & Shines –there was some discussion about Dealership Show & Shines but dates are not yet set.
The meeting was adjourned at 815 pm
Respectfully submitted,
