Tires

Hello,
I am looking at tires for my 2007 Mustang V6. The ones that are on it are Pirelli PZero Nero. They are about worn and was told would need new ones. But seem a little noisy.
Also considering:
- Nitto Motivo - Goodyear Assurance ComfortTred Touring - Falken Pro G4 - Kelly Edge AS - Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max
I am curious to know what others might recommend or suggest and if any of these are better than another?
Thanks,
Randy

I'm going to need tires also how much are you looking to spend? I've talked to others about 2 different sets of Nittos and a set of Mickey Thompson's price range $700-$800

Thanks Chris. Right now not looking to spend a whole lot (got a daughter in college and same getting married in the fall). So, something around $600 or less. Belle Tire seemingly lowered their Pirelli PZero Nero tires from $136/tire to $94/tire.

The PZeros that came on my 2013 V6 aren't bad, but they are louder than I would like after wearing down. Are you running the stock rims and do you have the pony package or not? Are you looking for All Seasons or Summer tires (I would assume all seasons, since they tend to be less expensive)?
I've seen some tire threads on other forums and I will dig around in there to see if anyone mentioned the ones you are looking at or another type.
I know I've seen Nitto and Falken pop up in those threads, but I don't know what model.

Thanks Phil!
I have stock rims and yes I have the pony package. I am probably ok with either summer or all season, but will not be driving it during the winter. Will depend on price.
Thanks for digging around and seeing what you can find!

Look online at Tire Rack there is a ton of info. Then check out local company RHD tire, 500 Grandville Ave. They don't handle Nittos but probably have better prices from what I've heard because they are a wholesaler to Belle and Discount tire etc. You can probably get a good all around performance tire that may not be a Nitto or Pirelli etc. But is still a good tire for the price. I'm going to look at Tire Rack and RHD but have had good luck with Belle Tire on Plainfield Ave. or Alpine Ave. On the North side of Grand Rapids but for custom wheels I didn't want damaged. I had to get tires mounted at Discount Tire on 44th Street as they were the only place that had mounting equipment that wouldn't damage my Shelby wheels.

I've looked around on one of the forums where I saw some threads about tires. I have been researching my own eventual replacements as well.
I wasn't able to find anything with them discussing the Goodyears, so you will have to rely one Tirerack info for them. I had a set of Goodyear Summer tires on my old Thunderbird and those things were great, for the 8,000 miles they lasted due to the shop not properly setting up the camber =( They also didn't mention the Kelly, but I know that since they are smaller, it would be less known. The only experience with Kellys I have are the "Chargers", which seemed to have been a fine tire for the '73. I saw several people post about liking the Nittos, and one guy who thought they simply didn't last long enough. I also can't find the Nittos on a lot of the websites. I saw a small number of people mention that they liked the Falkens as well.
I also saw several other tire options pop up. One was a Cooper, which I have no experience with. Several recommended the Yokohama YK520, which is a Discount Tire exclusive. I don't know about this version, but I had some of the older YK400 (I think, it's been several years) on my Saab and I didn't care for them. Too squishy. The last one that I was seeing pop up a lot, was the Continental DWS06. The only bad things I heard about it was that they need to be rotated exactly as needed or they can wear unevenly.
Unless I can find a super good deal on a set of Michelins (which are way expensive, but good tires) I think I will probably end up with the Continentals. Whatever you end up with, please post about what you got and what you think of them!
Chris, what equipment does the Discount Tire have that the other places don't?

Discount on 44th has a mounting machine that won't scratch the edge of the rim when spinning the tire on. Others might have one now but someone told me about the 44th Street store. So I went there to have my tires mounted on my Shelby rims.

Tire Rack is an excellent source for tires. You can do side by side comparisons for several brands off tires. You can also read the hundreds of reviews that owners have posted there. I have bought my 2 previous sets of tires for my Mustang from them with great success. I even used their pricing to have Belle Tire price match on a set for a truck I had.

Thank you all for your responses! I haven't decided yet and may take some time to look over. I was away over the weekend but was at a Discount Tire (44th) location for another vehicle on Monday and decided to look at their automotive magazines and so did see and checked out a little bit about tirerack.com. I did see mention of Continental's tires as Phil mentioned and they may be an option I want to look at further. I have tried Cooper tires before, on another vehicle, and was not as happy with the mileage I got out of them so not sure I would go back. I have another connection in the tire business and he suggested staying away from Goodyear (he says they call them Good for one year!). He mentioned a Continental touring option. I have used Belle Tire on Plainfield also since it is not far from my work. I am unfamiliar with RHD. Thanks!

I talked to Todd at Midwest Tire his only two suggestions were. Nitto 555,s - 255/45 ZR18 and Cooper Zeon RS3S 255/40 ZR18 because they don't come in 255/45 $886 and $869 respectively. That's mounted and balanced. Call him for your specific needs.

We just put a set of BF Goodrich g-Force Sort Comp 2 245/45/17 on our 00 Mustang. After two whole days, I'm loving the feel and ride. Tire Rack has them for $118 apiece. Discount Tire in Grandville did me up for $123 each installed.
