WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB BOARD OF OFFICERS MEETING OCTOBER 9, 2017 ABERDEEN CHURCH
PRESENT were: Dave and Heidi Mull, Dave and Cindy Dunn, Neil and Carol Keegstra, Joe DiLorenzo, Steve Morgan, Tom and Julie Miller, Lori Stolte, Gene Gibson, Phil Gibson, Scott Broekema, Ron and Vicki Wilton, Darrell Meyering, Gary and Ginny Marble, Chris Stawasz and Lynn Trestrail.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the President, Chris Stawasz, at 7:04 pm
Secretary Report: The minutes of the September meeting were read. After miner typo corrections a motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
Treasury Report: Lori Stolte passed out copies of the Treasury report and explained all income and expenses. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the report.
Membership: Sue Engel was not present but current membership is 256. This is great and we welcome all members and remind them that they are welcome at any Board of Officers meeting.
Activities: Heidi Mull reports that there are about 50 people signed up for Taco night on this coming Saturday 10.14.2017. Taco night will be held at Remembrance church. Set up is at 4 pm, dinner at 5 pm and a movie to follow. Each person is to bring 3 cans of food to donate to the food bank or $5.00. Help is needed for set up and clean up. The movie for Taco night is Cannonball Run.
The Christmas dinner is Nov 11, 2017 at Remembrance church. So far 44 have signed up. Help will be needed for set up and clean up. We will also have the election of officers that night. All current officers are running again but all positions are open for election as all. We also need to elect two new Members at Large. We will again have our gift exchange ($ 10-15 gift) for those who are interested. We will also be collecting Toys for Tots. If interested, please bring an unwrapped gift for that collection. It was suggested that we take the Toys to WZZM 13 or WOOD TV 8 so the Club gets recognition for the gifts.
The pizza night is February 10, 2018 at Remembrance and the chili palooza is on March 10. Set up will be at 4 and help will be needed for set up and clean up. Many hands make light work.
A few people have asked if we are going to have a WMMC “Trunk or Treat.” We have not discussed that for this year but perhaps in the future.
A few people have asked if we are having a southern color cruise. If anyone wants to arrange to lead that, they are welcome and should let Phil, Chris or Dave know so it can be put on the calendar.
Heidi said that a lady called her about doing an event for adopted children. Heidi asked her to call back on Tuesday 10.11.17. There was a little discussion and if the lady would like us to come to a show she puts on, we will try to do so but we cannot put on a 2nd car show.
A nursing home in Lakeview is looking to do a cruise in similar to what we did at Aurora Pond. More details as they become available.
The 2018 Fall Cruise will be to the Traverse City area. Contact Dave and Heidi Mull for more information.
Chris reported that the Club now has 10 new light weight sturdy tables. The old wooden tables were sold. The new tables are in the trailer. Dave Dunn will provide a carpet remnant to put on the trailer floor so the tables will not get scratched going in and out of the trailer. Chris said the tables have a handle on one side and are quite sturdy but not ‘break your back’ heavy. Thanks to Gary and Gene for their work on this.
Chris reported that Frontline church was grateful for the monetary donation. They plan to use the money toward their Men’s Ministry. We received a letter from Aberdeen Church thanking us for our donation and they will use it in their various ministries. The Barn for Equine Learning is rebuilding. Chris thanked all the members present at the meeting for their suggestions for charities. Those monies have all been sent and deposits have all been paid for upcoming activities at Remembrance Church.
National Mustang Day is in April and we will try to get a cruise set up for that.
Chris asked for members to spread the news about upcoming events and to let those who comment that they are not getting the email that the email we have on file might be incorrect and to please send a correction.
CLOTHING/MERCHANDISE: Joe DiLorenzo reported that he has sold six name tags and that the tags are now prepared by Awards Plus. The turnaround time was great.
Chris Buzcek who is the mother of Rick Donley has rejoined the Club even though they don’t have a Mustang anymore. Chris said that Rick loves the Club and she wants to get him to as many outings as she can.
MCA: Tom Miller reported that he and Julie and two other couples are charged with redesigning the “MOD” sheet for the MCA. They are also redesigning the instruction sheet to tell people how to complete the form. In addition to these changes, the point spreads between gold and silver will be changing.
Now you can qualify for your red grill medallion and keep on going for your green or yellow. In the future you will need to have 10 or more golds to advance to a higher-level medallion. Lori Stolte mentioned that she would like the membership letter to include a question about MCA membership so we can keep tabs on our MCA members.
OLD BUSINESS: Plans for the Christmas Party are in place. We will have our election that night. All current officers are running but all positions are open. We especially need a 2nd Vice President and a Show Chairman. We also need 2 members at large. Anyone who is interested can volunteer to be put on the ballot.
MUSIC: Steve reported that he thinks he has found a CD player that will work with our system but he is holding off on the purchase so he does not use up the warranty before using the CD player.
The meeting was adjourned at 8 pm. Next meeting is 11.13.17 and the December meeting will be 12.11.17.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Trestrail
WMMC Secretary
