WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB BOARD MEETING NOVEMBER 11, 2019
ABERDEEN REFORMED CHURCH
Present were: Gene Gibson, Carol and Neil Keegstra, Maggie Turner, Pete VanderVeen, Lynn and Jim Trestrail, Dave and Cindy Dunn, Dave and Heidi Mull, Lori Stolte, Scott Broekema, Dick and Sue Engel, Gary Marble, and Kevin Guzniczak.
The meeting was called to order by our new President, Kevin Guzniczak at 7:00 pm. He thanked all those present at the meeting for providing support for him and the Club. He thanked those who ran for office and all for being present. He said he will make a plea to the Club Members for volunteers to fill our vacant positions. He is hopeful someone will come forth to fill those spots.
It was announced that Kevin Heinig has sold his car and the question came up about using Remembrance Church. An email from Ruth explained that as long as she and Kevin are members of the Club, we can use the church for our functions. We have paid the fee for our functions through March. A motion was made that Heinig’s be provided a complimentary membership for their years of help and service to the Club. The motion was 2nd and passed.
Secretary report: The October minutes were read by Lynn Trestrail and Lynn agreed to take notes at the meeting. There were no questions nor additions to the minutes. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
Treasury report: Lori Stolte distributed the Treasury report and explained the entries. Our Club maintains a healthy balance to start covering expenses for the next show. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the Treasury report.
Activities: Heidi reported that 70 people signed up for the Christmas Party and 68 attended. It was mentioned that the portable microphone system might need to be placed in a different location so attendees can hear the announcements and discussions.
February 8, 2020 is our Pizza night. Admission is 3 cans or items for the food bank or $5.00 each.
March 14, 2020 is our Chili Palooza. Please bring your favorite chili (with a description of it on a card), salad or dessert.
RSVP to these events at: 616 892 7794 or spiceman@alteco.net.
Sept 25-27, 2020 will be our fall trip. We will be going south to Amish Country. RSVP to Mull’s at the above number or email.
Membership: Sue reported that we had 23 people pay dues for 2020 at the Christmas gathering. Those who didn’t renew will be sent the renewal form.
Merchandise: No report.
MCA: Lori reported that MCA has elections and there are 12 new people on the board. The shows for 2020 are Tuscon, AZ, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Melbourne, FL and Buffalo, NY.
Elections: Kevin Guzniczak is the new President and will continue as Show Chairman. We do not have a Vice President. Lynn agreed to be the Secretary and the Board and members present supported that. The one-year Member at Large position is now vacant. If anyone is interested in either the VP or Member at Large position, please notify any Board Member. Dave Dunn is resigning as the Hoofbeat Editor, so we need someone to assume that post as well.
Beginning in January, we will meet at Life Stream Church in Allendale. Our meetings will be on the 2nd Monday of each month except March when we will need to meet on the 1st Monday. Since Heidi and Dave are members, we were able to secure the room for $20/month. Thanks to the Mull’s. The December Meeting will be Dec. 9 at Aberdeen Church.
16 cars went on the Mooville trip in Mid October. It was a beautiful but cool day.
Nov 17 is an outing to Celebration Cinema to view Ford vs Ferrari. 110 reservations have been made and we have the 124-seat theater.
After our show last June, Dave and Cindy Dunn took on the task of purchasing merchandise for the Home for Veterans. We had designated $1335 for the Vets and $1337 was spent. They were able to get $1400 in discounts on jeans, sweaters, slippers, movies, and 2 blue ray players. Since Dave is a Veteran, he was able to take advantage of the Vets Day discounts. Many thanks to the Dunn’s for handling this.
Gary Marble commented that his brother in law still has 2 plaques. He will order one more and these will be given to our top 3 show contributors: Borgman Ford, Baker Ford and GR Auto Gallery. It will be inscribed with something like “in appreciation for your support of our 2019 show” etc.
There was discussion about the PA equipment. Both Gene and Gary have contacted a DJ. They both have their own equipment but will be asked if their equipment is big enough for an outdoor venue. We will need a DJ on June 13 and August 22. We will keep the small PA for inside events and Steve Morgan will be contacted to see what our equipment is worth. We may try to sell some of the equipment. A decision on the DJ was tabled until December.
Kevin reports that he has confirmed that the Ford Truck will be at the show.
In addition to the DJ decision, we will discuss the lessons learned from the last show. It is suggested we set up the Pre-Registration/ Registration table differently and that we have greeting ambassadors at the door.
Our 2020 Fall Cruise will be Sept 25-27 going south to Amish country.
A motion was made, 2nd and approved to adjourn the meeting at 755 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Trestrail, Secretary
