WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB – VIRTUAL MEETING- MAY 11, 2020
Present online were Kevin Guzniczak, Lori Stolte, Phil Gibson, Joe DiLorenzo, Dick and Sue Engel, Dave and Heidi Mull, Carol Keegstra, Maggie Turner, Scott Broekema, Gary Marble, Tom and Julie Miller and Lynn Trestrail.
The President called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.
Secretary: The minutes of the short March meeting were read. There were no corrections nor additions. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
Treasury Report: Our balance is only slightly down from last year. We still have a healthy balance. Only a few show registrations were received and few car show expenses had been paid so our balance is not unexpected. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
Membership: Sue reported that we had 10 renewals in March and our total is 163 paid members. Many people renewed at the Car Show in past years and they have not this year, so our numbers are slightly down.
Activities: July 21st is the day for the Tri-Unity Christian School graduation. So far Carol has 5 cars signed up and she needs 11 cars. If you can drive for this fun event of taking graduates to their after grad party, please contact Carol Keegstra at ckeegstra@sbcglobal.net or call her at 616 745 5790.
The Club has been asked to do a drive by birthday party on May 21st at 545 pm. We will need at Godwin Heights High School parking lot and drive around the corner to the birthday boys house on Buchanan. He will be 14 and loves cars. Any who can join are welcome.
The car show at Rick Bishop’s church in Charlotte has been canceled.
The Spectrum Health Rehab and Nursing Center Car Show has been canceled. They want to hold a virtual car show and ask that pictures of our cars (with or without us in the picture) be sent to Spectrum Health with a little note about the car. Winners will be notified. The first 100 submissions will receive a dash plaque.
Merchandise: No news regarding merchandise.
The sound equipment is for sale.
MCA: There was no report due to technical problems. Lori did report that the shows in Eureka Springs and Buffalo were canceled. The Florida show over Labor Day and the AZ show are still scheduled.
The Tapper Ford show has been canceled.
We discussed options for member engagement and discussed “ice cream cruises.” Boulder Ridge Zoo, Mooville, “That Place” in Hart, the Veteran’s Home, and The Hot Dog Place in Whitehall were all mentioned as cruise spots. Anyone who wants to lead a cruise and plan a route should contact the officers so it can be advertised.
There was some discussion about a ‘thank you’ cruise for our essential workers. Lynn will look into the logistics of this.
We need to discuss who will do the Hoofbeat. Lori has offered to do that but wants to know if Dave is still interested.
So far no Club members have been diagnosed with coronavirus as far as we know.
We had a discussion about a virtual car show but since the bulk of this would fall on Phil, it was decided to not do it.
Phil would like to feature cars on Mustang Monday on Facebook. Please submit a picture of your car /cars with a little background story and Phil will post it weekly on FB.
The next meeting will be June 8 at 7 pm. We can meet at the Park in Allendale in case the church isn’t open. If the church is open we can meet there in the event of bad weather.
A motion was made, 2nd and approved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Trestrail, Secretary
