WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 12, 2022
BORGMAN FORD UPSTAIRS MEETING ROOM
Present were: Rich May, Gene Gibson, Joe DiLorenzo, Maggie Turner, Lori Stolte, Ginny & Gary Marble, Krista & Rick Boomers, Jeremy Hoard, Marty Mieras and Lynn Trestrail.
The meeting was called to order at 6:34 pm.
Secretary Report: The secretary report was read. There was one addition and that is that Lynn is trying to build an email group in her regular email that will be more convenient and easier to use than mail chimp for ‘club only’ communication. The messages for other clubs and vendors etc., will go via Mail Chimp. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the secretary report.
Treasury Report: Lori distributed the Treasury report, and it was reviewed. There were no corrections nor additions. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the Treasury Report.
Membership: Suellen was absent, but Lori reported that we have 204 family memberships.
Merchandise: Joe reported that we have lots of caps and flags.
Activities: The gathering at the Berlin Raceway had a good turn out and a thank you plaque was given to Berlin for their support of our 2022 show. It was a fun night.
The preview of the new Mustang is next week in Detroit. Two of our members have registered and are going.
The gathering at Clark Home was a success. There were about 15 cars and the residents enjoyed looking at the cars and asking questions.
MetroCruise: We had a fabulous turnout at Borgman Ford for the Metro Cruise. There were dozens of cars and lots of friends renewing friendships and making new friends. Many thanks to Matt Borgman and Betsy for the hospitality.
Taco Night: October 15 is the target date for our Taco night. As yet we do not have a venue but keep watching for updates. We will be hosted again by the Houseman's. Watch for information, soon!!
The Christmas gathering will be November 5 at Frontline Church. We will need volunteers to help set up and take down. We will be sending out the invitation soon. The cost of the dinner this year will be $18/person or $36/couple. Our caterer will again be Adeline Leigh. That company is closing, and they have been our caterer for years, so we are happy to get to hire them one more time.
We will also be holding our elections at the Christmas Party. Though many of our current board are interested in running again, all positions welcome another candidate. Please let an officer know if you have intentions to run.
Though we do not have a venue, we are looking for a place for our pizza night and chili night. Emeline King will be our speaker.
Two members went to the MCA show in Georgia. Jeff and Lori Stolte won Gold and Tom and Julie Miller won the Concept Award. Congratulations! To see the schedule for next year please see the August minutes.
The Mack E will be judged at the 2024 MCA shows.
The Mustang II reunion will be at the Indiana MCA show.
Unfinished Business: The cover for our WMMC trailer has fallen apart. There was discussion about covering it with a big tarp and using bungee cords to secure it. Gene and Rick will take care of this.
The donation has not been made to the Veteran’s Home. Marty is waiting for a list from the facility. A donation of $2400 to Lori’s Voice was completed.
New Business: It was proposed that we raise the cost of our Club dues to $25.00/year. It has been $20.00 since at least 1989 and our costs have risen. Postage and supplies, food for our events and renting venues has all increased in cost. This will begin for the 2023 year. If you choose to pay your 2023 dues at the Christmas party, that will be the cost.
Our 2023 Car show will be June 10th. Please save that date and plan to sign up to volunteer. We cannot do a show without our volunteers and the more we have, the lighter the work it! You can submit your name to any of the officers at any time.
The M1 concourse event is Sunday October 2. A car corral will be set up. Please contact Jeremy Hoard if you are interested in going. jhoard75@gmail.com.
The meeting was adjourned at 740 pm.
The next meeting is October 10.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Trestrail, Secretary
