West Michigan Mustang Club Board Meeting 2.13.2023
Borgman Upstairs Meeting Room
Present were: Lori Stolte, Maggie Turner, Rick and Krista Boomers, Ginny and Gary Marble, Marty Mieras, Jeremy Hoard, Dave Dunn, Gene Gibson, Vicki Wilton and Lynn Trestrail.
The meeting was called to order by President Marty Mieras at 633 pm.
The Secretary report was read. There was a correction to Lori’s phone number. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the report.
The Treasury report was distributed and reviewed. Lori detailed all entries. Not all the figures are in from pizza night so that will be included in the March report. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the report.
Suellen was absent and Lori reported that we currently have 146 members.
Merchandise: Gary and Ginny are handling merchandise right now. Please contact them if you have merchandise questions. Gary’s phone number is 616 550 8048 and email is outlaw14121@gmailmail.com. Ginny’s phone number is: 616 550 8049.
MCA: there is no MCA report. It was mentioned that the July 28, 29 and 30 show is in Indianapolis. Members are encouraged to go to the show, not necessarily to be IN the show but to just go look at a show.
Activities: Jeremy reported that ‘The Car Show Guys’ were looking to mention our car show on their program.
Gary reported that TerryTown RV has an RV museum and classic cars on display. He invited the Club to have a meeting there or just go for an outing. We are looking at March 25 for an outing. It would be a daytime event. Please watch for future details.
Garage Kept would also like to have the Club come to their Classic Car display. We are looking at an April date for that. (Probably the 22nd.) They will have coffee and donuts. They sponsor our show.
Pizza night went well! We had nearly 60 members present. We had good pizzas and thank you to the members that brought desserts or salads. Warm thanks to Lori Stolte for organizing this event and making sure it all went off without a hitch. Thanks to Sue for packing the candy bags. We need to be sure that we have only ‘Members In Good Standing’ at these member events.
If a nonmember comes they will be offered to join the Club by paying dues. If they prefer not to join, we will ask them to leave. On our Members Only outings, Club members might pay or contribute something, but the Club pays many of the expenses.
March 11 is our Chili Palooza! If you are interested in coming, please RSVP to Lynn Trestrail at loplummer@comcast.net or call 616 540 1940 or 616 243 0840. It will be at Faith Lutheran Church at 3 mile and Fuller. Set up is at 430 pm. Please bring your chili, salad, dessert, chips or rolls. If you are bringing chili please mention that with your RSVP.
We will be having a guest speaker at chili night. Her name is Emeline King. She was the first black female designer at Ford Motor Company. She will have her book available for selling and signing.
May 6 is the day we will be celebrating Mustang Day. Jeremy and Marty are planning activities for that day. One member suggested we go to Mooville on our cruise. Save the date on your calendar.
Our big show is June 10 at Betten-Baker Ford in Coopersville. We will be setting up on Friday afternoon.
June 24 or 25 are the days we are reserving for our summer picnic. Houseman’s will not be able to host the picnic this year. We will be looking for a new location. The city will be called to check on availability of city parks, the cost to reserve them and the amenities. We may decide to get subs or something less cumbersome than trying to transport a grill. Those attending will be asked to bring a dish to pass. Keep watching future communications for updates.
The Mustang/Camaro combined show is scheduled for July 8 at a dealership in Kalamazoo.
Taco Night 2023 will be on October 21.
Christmas Dinner and party will be November 18. We have reserved a new caterer. Please watch for more details.
New business: Tim, our new member, who thought he might be able to design a shirt has realized he cannot do that. If anyone has an idea for a shirt for the show, please draw it up and submit to Gary or Jeremy in the next week or two.
There was some discussion about trying to devise a way to accept electronic payments for the Club membership and events registration. Several have talked to different people. This subject was tabled for a future meeting.
Show Business: Registration forms have been mailed. Letters have gone to vendors and Gary is already getting sponsors.
Raffle items can go to Ginny. If you can bring them the day before at the time of set up that would be a good time.
Volunteers: we will need a lot of show volunteers as usual. Please consider signing up for a day, half day or a few hours. If you would consider being the contact person, please contact Lynn at the previously mentioned email or phone numbers.
We will need help with the gates, the door prize table, parking, etc. Please tell us where you will help. Thank you!!! Many hands make light work!!
We will have 2 food trucks coming, hopefully a dessert truck, an honor guard.
We want to buy or have water donated and ice for the volunteers, if not visitors.
Set up will be Friday afternoon. More updates coming later.
The meeting was adjourned at 750 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Plummer Trestrail
WMMC Secretary
