I have been thinking of adding headers to our GT and am wondering about a couple things and am hoping a few can help us. First off is horse power?? Am I going to notice much of a difference?? I have already had Flo-Master 40;s installed so what about sound/vibration?? I have been looking on American Muscle and they have ceramic and chrome. It seems the BBK are of the best quility?? Of course ceramic will disapate heat more but any suggestions would be appreciated. I have, from looking around came to the conclusion I will need someone to install them to my current exhaust. Any advise there?? We live in Muskegon but if someone does this type of work (A Ford Mechenic working out of his garage would be perfect) I would very much consider. The 2 places I have spoken with tell me the book calls for 5 hours to replace manifolds.......Thanks for any help you can offer. Mike

What year GT do you have?
I would definatly recommend a set of coated headers, much less underhood heat and the headers last longer.

Thanks for response FRDBOY......I quess the year would be important....LOL. Its a 2007 Grabber Orange Convertable. Nice!! I wish I could say I have experience with a new car like that but I don't. Not sure how restrictive the factor exhaust is but I would guess you would pick up maybe 5-15 hp with the headers. Hard to say if you could notice the difference or not. I would recommend you contact Lidio @ Alternative Automotive on the other side of the state for a upgraded tune for your cars computer. I think he charges about 400-500 for a new program on a SCT Xcalibrator that will pick up about 20 RWHP and probably completely change the way the car drives. He does a lot of late model stuff and could probably answer any other questions for you. I have had a few cars and one truck dyno tuned by him and it would be hard to find someone better. www.alternativeauto.com

Headers would give you some additional horsepower but for the money I would start with an open element intake system from JLT or C&L. Combine this with a tuner from SCT or Diablo and you are looking at 20-30 horsepower for the cost of headers and the intake and tune would take maybe an hour or so to install and run. I have a 2005 GT with the above mods plus Magnaflow Magnapak mufflers and I showed a 22hp increase at the rear wheels. The tuner comes with multiple tunes so you could set it to 90 octane to run hard at the track or around town or you could reset to run on 87,89 octane for cruising or highway driving. This set up will also increase your MPG ,if you can keep your foot out of it, and increase throttle response.

made a goof on my previous post, it should read 93 octane for the best HP, not 90 octane. My bad!!
