West Michigan Mustang Club 8-10-15
The West Michigan Mustang Club held their first monthly meeting of the 2015-2016 car show season on August 10, 2015 in the downstairs conference room of Tony Betten Ford.
The meeting was called to order by the President Rick Bishop at 7:00 pm. Present were: Rick Bishop, Ron and Vicki Wilton, Joe DiLorenzo, Gene Gibson, Kurt and Cindy Kline, Cindy and Dave Dunn, Scott and Gail Broekema, Dave and Heidi Hull, Julie and Tom Miller, Lori and Jeff Stolte, Bill Binning, Gary and Ginny Marble, Chris Stawacz and Lynn Trestrail.
Rick reported that Cindy is doing well and would be starting radiation and chemotherapy treatment soon. Lynn reported that Jim was discharged from the hospital today and is on the road to recovery.
Mustang Night at Cheers is August 11, 2015.
Carl and Patty Shrader went to the Ft. Wayne Show and won $50 for the Club. The Ft. Wayne show is now a participant award show and not a judged show. Thanks Carl and Patty.
No official minutes were taken at the show wrap up meeting so no minutes were read.
Treasurer Report: Ron Wilton presented the Treasury report. We made less money on our show this year but we had more expenses this year. We still have a healthy balance in the account.
The cake was taken to the Veteran’s Home but it was announced that they cannot accept outside food and the cake could probably go to workers at the Freedom Cruise but not the residents. The Veteran’s Home is our charity benefactor this year and rather than give them a check, the Club will purchase and donate sweat shirts, sweat pants, socks, perhaps a WMMC throw and maybe some jackets that the embroiderer has on clearance. The jackets are being cleared at $10/ each. The Veteran’s Home has over 300 male and female residents. We earmarked $500 for the VA.
It was mentioned that there is an Auction House in Coopersville called the “Smart Shop” and though the hours are limited, they have sweats on sale at a discounted price.
Wednesday August 12 is the show at Resurrection Life Church. The Club members are asked to make a ‘canned food’ donation if they wish and the Club will make a $200 donation to the church food bank.
August 26 is a Show at Sunset Manor in Jenison. They hosted a little show in 2014 after the Jenison Memorial Day Parade. This will be from 6-8 pm. Contact Andrea to let her know you are attending.
SD Enterprises in Spring Lake is having a show on August 29 at 3 pm to benefit Make-a-Wish. Please contact Tom or Julie Miller to participate.
Chris Stawacz reminded us that the Creston Car show is Sept 12. The Creston Neighborhood supports our annual show and if at all possible, it would be great if members could go to this show.
The Charlotte show at Rick and Cindy’s church was a success. Lots of members made the trip and had a great time. Lyle bought all the food for the show and said he will do it again next year.
Our Club bought 52 shirts for show workers. We now have only 32 shirts in stock. Somewhere are 20 shirts. IF YOU HAVE A SHOW SHIRT, PLEASE GET IT RETURNED TO A CLUB OR BOARD MEMBER SO THAT IT CAN BE USED AT THE SHOW NEXT YEAR! This “staff” shirt was not a gift to show workers.
Thirty cars are registered for the Fall Color Tour. One room is available. Contact Dave and Heidi Mull if interested.
Bill Cisler is working on planning a local fall color tour.
Next year the fall tour will be to Stafford’s Crooked Tree Ridge near Indian River. It is about 30 miles south of Mackinaw. They have kayaks and paddle boats and it’s about 196 miles away.
Bill Binning reports that the club has 248 members. Since January 2015 we lost about 64 members but gained 40.
Kurt reports there is nothing new from the MCA.
Ron reminded the Club that he had mentioned an audit of the Bank Account. The club needs to figure out who would audit, how much it would cost and if we need to file as a non-profit. Those who know accountants will check with them and see what procedure should be followed.
The Michiana Car Show will have a fenced off area for parking for the Club.
We will check with Kevin to determine the availability of his church for our Taco Night on Nov 7.
The meeting was adjourned at 830 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Plummer Trestrail, Secretary
