Another car show in West Michigan on August 13th.
You are invited to join us for Downtown Kalamazoo’s inaugural CarFest on August 13 – an event that we hope will become a downtown tradition for years to come. Attached are electronic versions of our fact sheet and a registration form. A formal mailing is being prepared and will be sent to you soon.
On this special day, cars will fill out seven downtown Kalamazoo areas including Bronson Park, Arcadia Creek Festival Place, Kalamazoo Mall, Arcadia Creek Walkway, St. John’s Place along with Academy and Church Street. The volunteer committee has created a unique plan to randomize the vehicles so that no one area of downtown is overly concentrated with one type of specialty car. We hope to have 350 cars featured at this event. The plan is to encourage people to travel from place to place with “planted” signature cars to create the allure to car buffs as well as car dreamers.
The success of this event, as with most of our festivals and events in downtown Kalamazoo, is contingent on the support of our volunteers. We anticipate that we will need a well-staffed group of volunteers to direct traffic at setup, as well as facilitate the “flow” during the actual event. If your members are interested in volunteering, in addition to or in place of bringing a vehicle, please have them email deb@eventkalamazoo.com. We will need volunteers from 7 AM until 8 PM and we would love to feature car enthusiasts not only with their vehicles, but as a part of our support volunteer team too.
Lastly, we could not invite you into downtown Kalamazoo without extending an offer and opportunity to enjoy all of our fantastic restaurants and retailers. After the event closes at 8 PM, we will provide security staff on site to watch over your vehicles as you peruse the various restaurants and retailers that make our downtown district so unique. Restaurants and Retailers will also be providing a visitor’s pass with discount specials on August 13 only.
If you have any questions regarding registration or participation, please do not hesitate to contact Deb Droppers at 269-388-2830 or deb@eventkalamazoo.com or visit us at CarFestKzoo.com.
