WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB BOARD MEETING DECEMBER 9, 2019
ABERDEEN REFORMED CHURCH
The meeting was called to order by President, Kevin Guzniczak, at 7:00 pm.
Present were: Neil and Carol Keegstra, Gene Gibson, Phil Gibson, Maggie Turner, Vicki Wilton, Dave and Heidi Mull, Dave and Cindy Dunn, Gary Marble, Scott Broekema, Dick and Suellen Engle, Lori Stolte, Kevin Guzniczak, Jim and Lynn Trestrail.
SECRETARY REPORT: Lynn read the minutes of the November meeting. There were no corrections nor additions. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
TREASURY REPORT: Lori Stolte distributed the treasury report. Income and expenses were reviewed. There were no corrections nor additions. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the report.
Carol Keegstra thanked the Club for the sympathy card she received after her brother’s passing.
ACTIVITY REPORT: Heidi Mull has secured Lifestream Church for our monthly meetings. She added the 2nd ‘after show’ meeting in June and deleted the July meeting date.
-Ronda Houseman wants to host the summer picnic on June 27 from 4-8 pm.
-Heidi will check with Kevin and Ruth Heinig regarding use of the church in the fall and going forward.
-Heidi and Dave will not be available for Taco night on October 10. Carol Keegstra volunteered to help with that.
-Heidi mentioned the possibility of a bowling party in April or May. She also mentioned a trip to Dino’s Rods and Custom in Middleville for Mustang Day. There was interest in both options. A decision will be made at a later meeting. She also suggested a trip to Turkeyville.
Carol requested 10 cars for driving graduates on May 26, 2020. If you are interested in driving the graduates to their after-graduation party, please contact Carol Keegstra at 616 452 0684.
Old Business: Dave Dun has agreed to fill the vacant half term Member at Large position. Tom Miller has agreed to be Vice President.
Dave Dunn is not interested in continuing the Hoofbeat. Lori Stolte has volunteered to do the newsletter. Phil will help her set up mail chimp. There have been some difficulties with mail chimp and Phil will log into that and see if he can make it more user friendly.
Our Club member Clarence Worst has passed away. He sponsored the Best of Show award in memory of his fallen Vietnam Veterans. A card will be sent to his family.
Both Gary and Gene have DJ’s who are available to cover the show and the Metro Cruise. They will both find out if there is a deposit required to hold the dates. Gary’s DJ will be asked to do the car show on June 13. Gary states his DJ might also be interested in purchasing the Club’s DJ equipment. Gene’s DJ will be asked to DJ at the Metro Cruise. Gene and Gary will find out if they need deposits and will let Lori know. The DJ will also be asked to go to the show site to evaluate electrical connections prior to the show. Dave contacted Steve Morgan about the value of the equipment but has not heard back from him. Dave will also check with Rit Music.
NEW BUSINESS: Gary reported that he was able to acquire free boxes to be used for our raffle. These boxes are reusable and will fold flat for storage.
CAR SHOW BUSINESS:
-we will plan to have a phone list of all car show volunteers or at least the Coordinator for each area so we can more easily communicate during the show.
-Ruth Heinig stated she is willing to work the pre-registered position again this year.
-Lynn has agreed to be the coordinator for the registration table.
-we will have hostesses to greet show attendees and direct them to the correct area
-we need a National Vendor Coordinator. This person will receive goods and mailings from our national vendors for our show.
-Gene Gibson is willing to accept the pre-registrations for the show.
-we need to have a Volunteer coordinator.
-Gene has agreed to be the parking lot coordinator.
-we need a voting coordinator.
-Kevin mentioned that we need to return to the “must be present to win” situation for the Show. He still has awards for last year’s winners who have not claimed their award. We will go to the ‘next in line’ winner. (when the award book is compiled, the counters will need to note the top 3 winners and an alternate in case one has left.)
-Food Truck options were discussed. It was recommended that Kevin look out of town if he cannot get local people lined up. Options suggested are “Daddy Pete’s BBQ, Silver Star Café, Underground Cookie Club, Arturo’s.” Kevin will contact them to see if they are available on our show date.
-We will allow “For Sale” cars in a pony corral. They will not be allowed in the show field. The cost to park in the For-Sale Pony Corral is $10.00.
-when the flyer is completed for the show, we will eliminate the map and put the disclaimer on that we are not responsible for damage to property.
-we will also have the note for no dogs, no skateboards, no bikes, canopies and tents etc. in show field.
-we will contact a sweeper to come the night before the show and sweep the lot. Kevin will talk to church to see if they want to split the cost.
-we are missing some worker shirts from last year.
-we will need to order shirts for the show as well. There was some discussion about expanding our merchandise for sale. Gary will check to see what is available.
CHARITIES FOR 2020 SHOW PROCEEDS: A motion was made, 2nd and passed for the following charities to receive funds for next year: Bethesda Farms, Lori’s Voice and the GR Home for Veterans.
Pete VanderVeen submitted a flyer for a Saginaw Swap Meet. Lori has the information if anyone is interested.
We are looking for Technical advisors for the years of Mustangs. Rick May is willing to be the advisor for the early Mustangs. Dick Engel agreed to advise for the later 60’s models. We are looking for technical advisors for the Fox Body models and newer Mustangs. Please contact the Board if you are interested and capable.

MCA Report
Well its finely here, the end of the year.
2019 was a good year for the West Michigan Mustang Club. We brought home
11 class awards, the Pinnacle award (best modified 2005-2009), fourth year in a row and the club President’s Award three years in a row. Not too bad. Good job to all. This was a lot of hard work. We are looking forward to 2020.
