Got a new Driveshaft Shop Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft ( part number FDSH22-A-CV1 ) for my 2012 GT and will be installing it soon . ( wife get the pain pills and heating pad ready lol ) I put one on my 2002 Mustang 4 years ago and it was easy so I am thinking this should be easy too. Have not done anything to the car in months I did pull it out and start it Friday and was thinking to myself why do I live in Michigan lol . My son lives in S.C. and gets to drive his Mustang all the time . Anyway it is : 6061-T6 Aluminum Construction - Rated for 3450ft lbs of Torque / High Speed Balanced - Rated Up to 900 Horsepower / 19 lbs Vs 39 lbs .

Wow, I knew that the aluminum driveshafts were lighter, but 20 pounds it a lot. That's awesome. Once you do get it installed, let us know how it feels!

got the new driveshaft in took about 2 hours . The hard part was getting the old one out . Took a test drive and it feels like it takes a lot of slack and sloppiness out of your drive train Reduced lag time in the auto tran . Performance gain is slight but noticeable . no noise and no vibration ... so far . ran it slow for a little then got on us131 and run it at 80 mph very smooth as it should be .

IT JUST BEFUDDLES ME WHY THE HECK WOULD FORD GO TO THAT HEAVIER 2 PIECE DESIGN. IT IS HEAVIER, LOOKS MORE EXPENSIVE TO MANUFACTURE, PERFORMANCE IS NOT AS NICE, CREATES AN EXTRA OPPORTUNITY FOR FAILURE AS I HAVE SEEN ON YOUTUBE, I DON'T GET IT! WHAT WAS FORD'S DOWNSIDE TO A 1 PIECE ALUMINUM?

WHAT WAS FORD'S DOWNSIDE TO A 1 PIECE ALUMINUM? I'm assuming the same reason for anything that gets cheeped out on: cost. At least there seems to be good upgrade options available.
