West Michigan Mustang Club Board Meeting August 14, 2023
Present were: Maggie Turner, Rick and Krista Boomers, Gary and Ginny Marble, Lori Stolte, Jim and Carol Teft, Jeremy Hoard, Marty Mieras, Rick May, Gene Gibson, Jim and Lynn Trestrail.
The meeting was called to order at 630 pm by President Marty Mieras.
The Secretary report of the previous meeting was read. There was one correction. The word ‘so’ should have been ‘to.” There were no other additions nor corrections. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
The Treasury report for the club was distributed to attendees. Income and expenses were explained. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the report.
The Membership report was given by Lori. We currently have 173 active members. One member moved and requested to be unsubscribed from our mailing list.
Merchandise: Gary reports that people are steadily purchasing merchandise.
Past Activities:
*We had about 30 people at our picnic. It was a nice facility. Everyone was pleased with the location and facility. There was discussion about returning to that location next summer. Our picnic will be June 22 from 10-2 pm. Gary will check to see if it’s available and if so, he will ask Darrel to call and reserve. Lori noted that there is a grill there and if someone is interested in being a grill master we could grill rather than get subs. There will be more discussion as time goes on.
*The Camaro/Mustang Show was well attended but the Camaros won the count. It was in a church parking lot and the location was good. One vendor was present and made cool cups with pictures of the car on them. This vender is moving to Coopersville so we will see if he will come to our show next summer.
*Twelve cars from WMMC went to the Michigan International Speedway. It rained and then it didn’t and then it did and then it didn’t. WMMC carried the American Flag around the track. It was $50/car to go and an extra $40 for a ticket to the race.
Upcoming Activities:
Cruise into Clark Home on 8-16. Six more people signed up.
Woodward Cruise is August 19.
Metro Cruise - August 24 is the warmup at the East end of the cruise. August 26 is the Metro Cruise. The Club will again be gathering at Borgman Ford from 9-3. Borgman will NOT have the caterer as in the past. Please RSVP to Jeremy if you are going by August 24. Matt Borgman hopes to get some Metro Cruise Cash to distribute to members to be used at the Food Trucks in the lot to the East of the dealership. If you are a member in good standing, you may get some Cruise Cash but you must RSVP to Jeremy at jhoard75@gmail.com or 616.350.4801.
A new feature of Metro Cruise this year is an event called Dream Wheels. This will be at Woodland Mall. They are focusing on classic cars this year and several from our Club have been asked to go.
August 27 is the Blue Oval Blast in Grand Ledge.
17 Club cars went to the Michiana Show. 11/17 got trophies. Our Club had the most members attending so our Club won the $100.
MCA – A full report is on the Club Website. The last MCA show was in Indianapolis. 8 members went to the show and all of them won trophies! Congratulations all around!! There was a special pizza party for the Mustang II folks on Friday.
Sept 8-10 is the show in Melbourne, FL
October 6-8 Stampede to the Heartland, Topeka, Ks.
Several MCA members have resigned their post and there are 14 openings to be filled.
2024 schedule is out and the first show in Birmingham is sold out. Please check the MCA or WMMC website for further information. Following shows are in the Ozarks, Des Moines, IA and Savannah.
Old Business: There was no old business.
*Show Business: Gary distributed 10 Thank you plaques. These went to our top sponsors and Betten/Baker Ford.
We have ‘must be present to win’ printed on the front of our registration sheet. We have decided to put it on the back as well as on the ‘pick up your ballots at 11 am ‘ slip. If you leave before the trophies are awarded you will surrender your trophy.
Lori mentioned that she thinks it would be nice to have a bereavement fund. If we have this fund, d then we can express our sympathy to the family of deceased members. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to begin a fund.
*New Business: Gene reported that we need to order more identifying placards. We only have a few left. Several folks said we needed to inventory the trailer. If not done before, Marty said we can meet at his house on Oct. 7 at noon. His address is 2944 E. Ellis Rd, Muskegon, MI.
We need to get new tires for the trailer. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to allow up to $400 for new tires and a spare would be looked for also.
The cover for the trailer disintegrated and tore at the zippers. The fellows think the shrink wrap was put on too tightly and the seams couldn’t hold up to that pressure. The tarp was torn in the weather. A new cover will be investigated.
The WMMC 2024 elections are coming. All positions are up for grabs. If you want to run for a position, please let Lynn know so she can make up the ballots. loplummer@comcast.net or 616.540.1940.
The Treasury report on the show was reviewed item by item. Lori presented a very explicit report. It was accepted as well.
We will have a donation for the Home for Veterans and also for Lori’s Voice. Lynn will contact the VA home to see if they still have the Enrichment Fund. We will try to make a presentation to those organizations.
The meeting was adjourned at 752 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Plummer Trestrail, WMMC Secretary
