WEST MICHIGAN MUSTANG CLUB BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 12, 2024
Present were: Maggie Turner, Lori Stolte, Dave Dunn, Krista Boomers, Ginny and Gary Marble, Marty Mieras, Jeremy Hoard, Carol and Jim Teft, Rick May, Gene Gibson and Jim and Lynn Trestrail. There were two guests: Madi Morrell and Mary Green.
Madi Morrell and Mary Green from the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society (LLS) made a presentation to the gathering to see if we are interested in partnering with them for a fund raiser. They explained what they do and what kind of goals they are looking at. They left the meeting after their presentation.
The meeting was called to order at 644 pm by the President, Marty Mieras.
Secretary Report: The minutes of the January meeting were read. There was one correction to the minutes. There were no other corrections nor additions. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the minutes.
Treasury Report: The Treasury report was distributed and reviewed in detail. After the explanation of expenses and income, a motion was made, 2nd and passed to approve the report.
Membership Report: We currently have 148 members. Nine new members have joined in 2024. There are still some members who have not renewed.
Merchandise Report: Gary reported that he has sold some merchandise, and he took some new orders at the pizza gathering.
The equipment trailer is covered and has it’s new tires. It’s all set.
Activities: Lori reported that there were 65 people at the pizza party. It was a nice gathering and some people showed up that have not been to events in a couple years.
The chili party is coming up on March 9. We will plan to eat at 530 pm. Emaline King will be speaking at chili night. She will have some of her books with her. They are for sale for $25. We will give her a gift pack of club memorabilia.
We are planning a trip to the Gale Halderman Museum. The date of May 18 had been mentioned but that is the Mid-Michigan Show so that is a conflict. The guys will look into another date. Marty was told by Karen Halderman that Hilton has built a new TRU hotel in Tipp City. Kevin G. has been contacted to set up the trip and make the arrangements for us. Watch for more information.
Krieger Ford in Columbus is having their car show on May 19, 2024. They have room for 200 cars and have over 100 registrations. If you plan to go, please make your reservation soon.
A suggestion was made by Dave Dunn to have an outing at the Meijer Gardens. He also suggested an outing to the Grand Rapids Grand Prix. These are great suggestions, and we will look at our calendar.
The Mustang/Camaro show is Sept 14 in Kalamazoo. Maggie Turner volunteered to do their 50/50 raffle.
Our picnic is June 22, 2024 from 10-2 at Howard Dunton Park in Holland. Everyone will be asked to bring a dish to pass and we are looking into having burgers, hot dogs or brats. Marty volunteered to be the grill master. More information after future meetings.
There was some discussion about a show at the Downtown Market. At one point you had to submit a picture of your car to see if your car was accepted. The lot is quite small and not many cars would fit.
The Michiana Car Show is 8-10-2024. Reservations can be made at Essenhaus.
Our Christmas dinner is 12-7-2024. Orlando will cater again. The menu and the price will be the same.
Old Business. No old business to finish.
New Business: We discussed whether or not we want to partner with LLS in their fund raising efforts. Jeremy will be the point person and have further discussions with them to see if this is something we can do.
A member asked if there is going to be a show at Tapper Ford. Gary will look into that and let us know.
The 76 Diner has a drive-in car gathering every other Tuesday night. We may plan an outing for that.
MCA shows are:
April 5-7 Birmingham, AL
May 24-26 Ozarks
Aug 9-1 DesMoines
Oct 11-13 Savannah
April 4-6 2025 Mid Florida
For complete MCA information, refer to the MCA website.
Show Business: Jeremy and the other men are looking at the car show classes and will decide what new classes are needed and what classes need to be split due to high numbers. They will get that settled and will get the new registration sheet ready.
Letters are ready to go to vendors and sponsors. Vendors will be charged $50 and they will allow them to sponsor a class as well.
The vendors will be asked to donate things for raffle items. Gary will get with Jeremy on printing prices and amounts.
Gary brought a mockup of the medallion. We will have a medallion and a dash plaque for the first 200 to register. He also brought a sample of an award and had a great looking acrylic award. Motions were made, 2nd and passed for the medallions/dash plaques and awards.
Steve Morgan will again be our DJ for the day.
We need to have volunteers for the show. We expect a big turnout. Please please consider volunteering and let one of the officers know you are volunteering. We need folks to help in the parking lot to be sure the cars are put in the right category. Please volunteer now!
The Mustang Trailer will NOT be at our show. They will be in Iowa that weekend.
We need to order show shirts since it’s the 60th anniversary of Mustangs.
The meeting was adjourned in the nick of time at 7:55 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Plummer Trestrail,
WMMC Secretary
